Therapeutic Counselling - Peter Mackriell

Therapeutic Counselling - Peter MackriellStressed or depressed?

Anxious or angry?

Bereaved or made redundant?

Dealing with a specific trauma or just generally low?

Talking to a qualified counsellor may help…

Peter Mackriell is available to meet you, whatever you choose to bring to counselling. After an initial assessment to evaluate whether you can work together, he will work with you over several weeks to raise your awareness of things that limit growth and wellbeing, and to help you make your own choices about the future.

Gestalt Model of Counselling

Peter has been trained according to the Gestalt model of counselling, an approach that is creative and flexible, responding to the needs of the client and open to experiment in a supportive atmosphere.

Gestalt counselling is a holistic approach, recognising that our minds and bodies are inseperable and that dis-ease can be expressed in physical, emotional and spiritual ways.

The context of Gestalt therapy is the relationship that is built between counsellor and client; this interaction allows you as client to explore familiar patterns of behaviour as well as new ways of being.

Within the safe parameters of the counselling relationship, ethically established, we are able to expand your repertoire of responses, giving you confidence as you take what you have learned back into your daily life.

Qualifications and Experience

Peter holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Pastoral Counselling (with distinction), as well as two Masters degrees in arts subjects.

He continues to develop his skills, attending professional development courses. He has experience of working pastorally and in counselling with a wide range of people at different stages of life and understands the impact of life changes, relationship breakdown and bereavement on mental health and general wellbeing.

Peter has a particular interest in work with Deaf and disabled people and works as a therapist in the NHS with Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients.

Peter works under monthly supervision, according to the ethical guidelines of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherpay (BACP), of which he is a member.
